Abdullah bin Zayed chairs first Council meeting of Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative

ABU DHABI, 9th August, 2024 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the first meeting of the Council of the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed praised the efforts of those involved in the successful launch of the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative and underscored the importance of active work by all Council Members to reflect the UAE’s commitment to address the urgent challenge of water scarcity.

Topics reviewed in the meeting include:

• Priority projects to further the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative’s mission to promote sustainable global access to water through the development and application of breakthrough technologies and by raising awareness of water scarcity and elevating it as a priority on the global agenda.
• Planned activities that aligned with the strategic pillars of accelerating innovation in water technology, raising awareness through global outreach and undertaking actions to tackle urgent global water challenges.
• Approaches to engaging youth and partners in the UAE and globally that will be undertaken in the coming 12 months.

Council Members in attendance included His Excellency Suhail bin Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; His Excellency Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Minister of Investment; Her Excellency Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment; Her Excellency Maryam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mehairi, Head of the International Affairs Office at the Presidential Court; His Excellency Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Secretary General of the Advanced Technology Research Council; His Excellency Abdulla Ahmed Balala, Assistant Minister of Energy and Sustainability Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; David Scott, Advisor to the Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; and Ray Dalio, Founder of Bridgewater Associates.
